Porsche logo illustrations

By Norebbo •  3 min read

This set of Porsche logo illustrations has got to be the longest I’ve ever had a single collection in progress. I actually started creating this series about two years ago but other design projects got in the way which ultimately pushed this aside too many times to count. I’m sort of glad that it took so long – mostly because I have recently decided to push myself a little bit from now on and start creating images with different styles (compared to what I normally do).

That’s the primary reason why I rendered all of these over a white background. Yes, I do notice that many of my stock illustrations are dark and gray – a style I like the most – but as a stock image producer I know that I need to offer some variety every now and then.

I originally started building the entire Porsche logo in 3d – but after only twenty minutes into it I realized that it would take far too long and I could achieve images just as nice with the logo mapped onto a flat surface. I did put some detail into the surrounding bezel though – and as you can see, there are two variations of it. One is more segmented than the other which gives it more of an industrial look. I’m more fond of the simpler version though. Clean and simple is good, especially when it comes to design!

As I mentioned above, all of these are rendered over white instead of the standard “Norebbo dark gray” which most of my stock illustrations of late have been. The funny thing is that I’ve been creating those dark images for so long that doing anything with a white background seems unnatural and weird to me. But I like the metallic white style of this series of illustrations – it’s something I’m definitely going to keep experimenting with going forward.

Anyway, here’s a more descriptive list of this set:

My name is Scott, and I started in the design industry over 20 years ago with a bachelors degree in Industrial Design from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, MI. I have an extensive background in both 2D and 3D illustration, and these days, I spend a majority of my time creating aircraft templates and airliner art. I’m basically an airplane dork.
