Background images with various objects

June 26th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Free Backgrounds

Here are three background images with various objects. The first one is an image of  two stacked books over top of an abstract glowing green texture. The second is a rendering of a transparent pie chart over top of a blue gradient background (perfect for use as a presentation template image). Finally, a simple 3d illustration of a wrench and a screwdriver arranged in a cross over top of a gray and yellow background.

Six free abstract background images and textures

June 19th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Free Backgrounds

I’m drowning in background textures. I’ve created so many of these darn things that I don’t even know what to do with them anymore – besides giving them away here for free of course. These six free background patterns and textures are all very rich in color and style, and can be used in combination with some other elements to create the perfect backgrounds for your presentations or business cards. Need some help applying any of these textures to your design? I can help! Just leave a comment and I’ll get back to you ASAP.

Six more free background illustrations

If you probably haven’t already noticed, I recycle a lot of my textures as I create these background images. I usually begin by combining a few of my existing backgrounds together in Photoshop, and hack my way through it until I get something that looks rich and inviting. Of course, it’s extremely easy to create muddy looking textures this way, and I can’t count the number of times I’ve thrown my hands up in disgust as I am working on a new graphic. Muddy images = bad!

Anyway, here are six free background images that survived that building process in Photoshop. Some of these have objects integrated into them, while a few are just totally abstract. In this series: blue raindrops, abstract green metal fragments, a copyright symbol intertwined with wires, a guitar over a silver and bronze background, a globe over a honeycomb pattern, and an iPhone over a bronze and gray musical note pattern.

Six free background images with various objects

June 17th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Free Backgrounds

Backgrounds. Everybody needs backgrounds! Of my 15 years in the design business, requests for background images have been at the top of the list since day one. Of all the companies I’ve worked as a visual designer for, word would spread pretty darn quickly that I could create these types of images,  and the resident business-folk would circle my office like vultures awaiting fancy graphics for their PowerPoint presentations.

This set of six background images contain random objects (handgun, paint bucket, cardboard box, bells, batteries, and a chart) placed over top of abstract textures. And of course, they are all watermark-free.

Six free high resolution abstract background images

June 16th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Free Backgrounds

Abstract images are extremely fun to make, and I usually create them when I’m in a creative rut and my brain refuses to think technical thoughts. These six high-resolution (1600 wide) background textures are just a small part of my large archive of these things, so I’ll be uploading them a lot. And why shouldn’t I? Of all the images I create on a weekly basis, these are probably the most useful of them all. Not only can they be used as presentation backgrounds, some of them make great desktop wallpapers or textures for other images that I create.
